I See You Everywhere...

Since this is the last week of the month and hopefully everyone that was reading with us (I See You Everywhere by Julia Glass) is finshing up. I am going to post at least one discussion question a day that I took from LitLovers.Com.

Today's question...

I See You Everywhere focuses on the relationship of Louisa and Clement Jardine. Describe each sister's character. How are they like and unlike each other—also, like and unlike their parents? What do their attitudes toward work, love, and family have in common? How do they differ?

Clem is definitely the free spirit / typical crazy youger child and Louisa is the responsible, cautous older sister. Though they are both jealous of each other, think of the other often and are both very ambitous in very different ways. Clem is more transient and the attitude of whats good for now in regards to all aspects of her life. No matter what is going on with Louisa she just seems more grounded.

What do you think?

I agree with your assessment. I think that Clem is kind of the girl that many other girls 'love to hate'. She doesn't seem to have any female friendships (besides Louisa) and attracts men like a moth to the flame. So for me, even though she had endearing moments, I never really grew to like her.

Louisa was definitely the more sensible character and someone I identified with.

Have you finished the book? I finished it over the weekend and did not care for the ending AT ALL.

ha unfortunately no I am not done.. I should be done by tomorrow night or Wednesday depending on my ability to focus. Teaching all day definitely makes focusing at night harder! I remebered I wanted to share this quote from Clem, because I related to it.. " I would rather be pleasantly surprised than fatally dissapointed." Page 90. I completely agree.

OMG, I totally tagged that quote by Clem! I have started to use those little post-it tags to mark quotes I loved.

Here's another one I loved & tagged:

"To him, silence is never a threat. I'm not like that; I want to be asked and told, praised, cajoled, or bellowed at. Where there are words, there are definitions." (p. 171)

here is another quote that i like..

" What makes my parents so compatible when it seems they are anything but? Is it just a matter of sticking it out, the never-ending appgravation, till all the habits you have, good and bad, are simply all you know, easy because they're familiar? yet my parents make a happy marriage look real." pg. 129
