Crank by Ellen Hopkins

Wow. Crank is about a teenage girl who goes to visit her estranged father for the summer and meets a boy who changes her entire world.

Kristina is a straight A do-gooder until her trip to Albuquerque where she meets Adam. Adam introduces her to meth, nicotine and pot. A lethal combination. She returns home to Reno with a new tattoo (whoops) and an incredible hunger for the monster. The monster has her changing her name and persona to Bree --- a badass, in so many ways that Kristina isn't. Oh the cute lifeguard at the pool? Bree will hit on him. Oh Chase, a bad boy? Him too... Kristina not so brave.

With her hunger for crank and these two boys willingness to give it to her and get what they want Bree slips further and further from her self.

I found this book to be fascinating. So fascinating that I read it in one day. The style it's written in is hard to get into, but after you do you are hooked. Much like Bree is to the crank. I think this is definitely a must read for teens and for parents. It's honest. Much better than D.A.R.E

Has anyone you know suffered from drug addiction?? It's rough.

It amazes me that you can finish a book in a day. I have been reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo every spare minute for a week and I'm still not done yet. Crank sounds interesting though- I'll have to add it to my never ending list!
