With that, the subject was exhausted, and not another word was exchanged
for almost a minute. The retired policeman leaned back in his kitchen
chair and drew on his pipe. He knew he was no longer expected to come up
with a pithy comment or any sharp question which would shed a new light on the
case. pg - 4
Just picked it up from BN yesterday. I used the rest of my gift card. I feel so torn because I really want to finish Alias Grace, which is slow moving but good and I read the first chapter of this because I felt as though it deserved a post soon since it was our book of the month. Got lots of reading to catch up on. :)
Here is a good review for the book from a blog I read..
So, what are your thoughts so far? How far along are you? Favorite part? Thing you want to share?

I always see the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the store and it always looks good. I hope you like it so far, I'm interested to know what you thing about it!
This is on my wish list, so I look forward to seeing what you think of it.
I'd love to hear your thoughts (and anyone else's) on the translation of the book. I read it in french and I found that the prose sounded sort of forced and strange. In the end I liked the writing anyways - it sort of felt like a style. But I wonder if it was the same in english, and if it was maybe it's because it sort of sounds like that in Swedish?
ps: The gossip in Europe is that there may be a 4th book, which his widow still holds because she didn't get any money from the books (he died after handing in the manuscripts for the 3 books)
Anais - I am only about 10 pages in but I can see what you mean. If I didn't know it was translated, I would think it was kind of choppy. Though it does add to the style. Then again I am 10 pages in and it hasn't annoyed me yet.. But I can see the haltiness (is that a word?) of it...
I keep eyeing this, but just have too many other books to get through on my TBR list!!! Someday... Thanks for the teaser!
I read it this fall & loved it. I usually am not a big fan of the murder/mystery genre but this book grabbed me! I just lent it to a friend so can't reference any great teasers. I hope you like it!!
